TINTO ROASTERY

Visual rebrand concept — School project Tinto Roastery is a small-batch roastery in Ostrobothnia built on quality, craft and a direct connection to Colombia. The beans are brought in from South America and roasted only in Vaasa, enabling them to stay fresh and aromatic. The rebrand concept gives the roastery a visual identity that tells that story: crafted and traditional, but modern and timeless enough to stand out from competitors.

THE BRAND STORY

Tinto’s story starts with a bicycle. The founder first traveled to Colombia as part of Finland’s road cycling team, and later delivered his first coffee orders by bike to customers nearby, in his earlier job as a postal worker. His passion for wine is also part of the brand’s character. I wanted the identity to bring these personal details forward, because they are what make a small roastery different from any other.

VISUAL IDENTITY

The identity is made of an updated logo, typography and illustrated elements. A deep wine red (#691010) leads the palette, balanced by a soft cream (#F5F4DC) and black. The red stands for the depth and warmth of coffee, for tradition, and for the founder’s love of wine. A refined serif typeface gives credibility and a modern, elegant touch. The illustrations carry the story: a simple bicycle with a basket for small-scale production and approachability, and coffee beans for the core product. The identity is applied across packaging, where light and dark backgrounds separate the roast levels with coffee bean metrics, as well as merch, the website and social media.
